Pigmentation spots & melasma
Understanding the origin of the spots in order to propose suitable management, after analysis of the skin and of the phototype.
Understanding this concern
Pigmentation spots correspond to an excessive production or accumulation of melanin. Behind a sometimes similar appearance, however, lie different situations: lentigines related to sun exposure, hyperpigmentation following an inflammation or an acne flare-up, or else melasma.
Melasma is a particular problem, often influenced by several factors: individual predisposition, hormonal variations, sun exposure, heat or inflammation. Its chronic nature explains why it generally requires gradual management rather than a single treatment.
My approach begins with a precise analysis of the pigmentation, of its depth, of the phototype, of exposure habits and of the factors liable to sustain it. Not all spots are treated in the same way, and certain techniques may even be counter-productive when they are poorly indicated.
Depending on the diagnosis, the strategy may combine depigmenting treatments, medical peels, lasers or medical technologies, as well as a suitable skincare routine. Photoprotection constitutes an essential part of the management and of the prevention of recurrences.
In melasma, I favour a measured approach, built over time, in order to improve the pigmentation gradually while limiting the risk of rebound.
The aim: to regain a complexion that is gradually more even and luminous, while respecting the balance of the skin.
