Glossary
Short, neutral definitions of the techniques and terms used along the way. They are for information only and do not replace a consultation.
- Botulinum toxin
- An injectable substance which relaxes certain muscles responsible for expression lines. The indication and the dosage are assessed individually.
- Collagen inducer (collagen stimulator)
- An injectable product which stimulates the natural production of collagen, for the firmness and the quality of the skin.
- Cryolipolysis
- Application of controlled cold targeting localised fat deposits. It does not treat excess weight.
- Ecchymosis
- A small haematoma (a ‘bruise’) which may appear at the injection points; transient.
- Fractional laser
- A laser which treats the skin in micro-zones, for radiance, texture or certain irregularities.
- HIFU (focused ultrasound)
- Targeted ultrasound stimulating the firmness of the tissues at depth.
- Hyaluronic acid
- A molecule naturally present in the skin, used in resorbable injectable form to restore certain volumes or hydration.
- Indication
- The situation in which a procedure is appropriate; it is assessed individually in consultation.
- Informed consent
- Agreement given after clear information about the procedure, its precautions and its possible after-effects.
- Medical peel (chemical peel)
- Application of medical exfoliating solutions to improve the texture, the radiance and the evenness of the skin.
- Mesotherapy
- Superficial micro-injections intended to revitalise the skin (hydration, radiance).
- Microneedling
- Controlled micro-perforations of the skin, intended to stimulate its renewal.
- Oedema
- Transient swelling which may follow certain procedures.
- Polynucleotides
- Injectable molecules intended to support the quality, the hydration and the suppleness of the skin.
- Prior consultation
- A mandatory appointment before any procedure: assessment of the indication, information about the precautions and the fees, obtaining consent.
- Quotation
- A document providing information on fees, given before any procedure; only the quotation given in consultation is authoritative.
- Radiofrequency
- A technology which uses heat to stimulate skin firmness.
- Skin booster & bio-remodelling
- Micro-injections of hyaluronic acid or of bio-remodelling agents, aiming to improve the hydration and the quality of the skin.
- Social downtime
- The period during which the after-effects of a procedure may remain visible; variable according to the procedure.
