Medical rhinoplasty

Based on the injection of a resorbable filling gel, made from hyaluronic acid, placed in the deep planes of the nose, medical rhinoplasty proceeds by adding volume at targeted points, in order to modify the perception of certain contours, but never allows any to be removed. It acts neither on the bony and cartilaginous structures, nor on the overall volume of the nose, nor on breathing; it is not a substitute for surgical rhinoplasty, whose indications and possibilities it does not share.

Every session is preceded by an examination of the nose and by a mapping out of the contours concerned; after disinfection, the product is placed at a few points, with a needle or with a cannula, the use of a contact anaesthetic being open to discussion depending on the situation. Because the nose is a richly vascularised region, this procedure calls for particular precautions, and I prefer to interrupt or to postpone it when the conditions are not met rather than depart from those precautions. The duration of the session, the choice of the product and the possibility of the procedure being repeated are specified in consultation.

The requests concerned relate above all to the bridge of the nose, whether it be a hollow, an irregularity or a slight hump that one seeks to harmonise, as well as to a discreet modification of the tip. The indication is not automatic: a request to reduce the nose, breathing difficulty, certain previous nasal surgery or expectations that the technique cannot meet lead me not to offer the procedure, other directions, including surgical ones, then being explained.

After-effects may occur, such as redness, oedema, bruising or tenderness of the injected area; rarer complications, in particular vascular ones, remain possible and warrant contacting me without delay in the event of unusual pain, pallor of the skin or a visual disturbance. These elements, like the possibilities and the limits of the technique, are detailed during the prior consultation, which is compulsory before any procedure.
