Collagen stimulators are resorbable injectable products whose mode of action remains indirect: they do not seek to fill a hollow by their volume alone, but to stimulate collagen synthesis by the tissues with which they are placed in contact. The change sought therefore concerns the firmness and the quality of the skin, and sets in gradually when it occurs. Faithful to a personalised approach, I determine the product, its dilution and the injection plan solely on the basis of the analysis conducted during the consultation.

The session opens with an examination of the face and the mapping of the areas to be treated, followed by disinfection of the skin. The injections are performed with a needle or with a cannula, according to the plan and the number of points decided during the consultation, and massage or aftercare instructions may be given at the end of the session, depending on the product used. A protocol may comprise several sessions: their number, their spacing and the interval before reassessment are not standardised and are defined with each patient during the consultation.

The areas concerned are located on the face. The technique may be considered in cases of loss of skin firmness, of altered skin quality, or as part of an approach to volume restoration; it is not suited to every situation, since certain requests call for a different approach and there are cases in which the procedure is not indicated. A skin condition, a medical history or an ongoing treatment may constitute a contraindication, which medical judgement is precisely intended to look for.

After-effects may occur following the session: redness, oedema, bruising, tenderness, or irregularities and palpable nodules at the injection points. Their intensity and their duration vary from one person to another and cannot be announced in advance. Rarer complications exist, and are set out to each person before any agreement is given; any unusual development should lead you to contact the practice again. The prior consultation remains mandatory, as it makes it possible to analyse the request, to look for contraindications, to give information about the risks and the limits, and to decide together whether or not the procedure is indicated.
